Long before the international stardom of Soul II Soul, Jazzie B was a key DJ in the London rare groove scene of the 80s – and for this massive 3 CD package, he's done a great job of recreating the sound from those bygone days – serving up key tracks from his years at the Africa Centre and before – starting with 70s funk and soul, moving into 80s groove, and picking up a bit of house and hip hop near the end! The 3CD, 39 track package is a delight throughout – a great reminder of the British love of soulful club in the 80s, and a wonderful way to hear the rhythmic roots that went into the later recordings of Soul II Soul.
